Story:

A STITCH AGAINST WASTE
A STITCH FOR FREEDOM

Silaiwali is a social project that employs female Afghan refugees that fled in order to avoid persecution by the Taliban. The organisation helps them to earn a sustainable income and build their future against all odds.

The fast-fashion industry contributes significantly to environmental issues, with up to 47% of all fibres entering the fashion value chain ending up as waste. For this reason, Silaiwali is situated at the fast-fashion hub in New Delhi where it has access to textile leftovers. All dolls and ornaments are made from these leftovers.
